Driving Schools

Atlantic Region Motor Sports holds a number of advanced driving schools each year. These schools are held at Atlantic Motorsport Park (AMP) in Shubenacadie, NS. They range from Solosprint Schools to Race Schools, each providing the opportunity to obtain various levels of licensing that entitle you to use the track. Please note, for all ARMS schools, you will need a membership to an ARMS affiliated club. This costs $30 per year, and the application form can be found here.

High Performance Driving Schools: Upon passing these schools, you are given the opportunity to purchase Lapping Cards or Solosprint Cards. Lapping Cards allow you to participate in Lapping events only, while Solosprint Cards allow you to participate in timed Solosprint events at AMP.

Race Schools: Upon passing a race school, you are given the opportunity to purchase Lapping Cards and Solosprint Cards. If you complete the school race, you are able to obtain a regional Race License, entitling you to participate in Racing, Solosprint and Lapping events.

In addition, there are other advanced driving schools at AMP organized by the Bluenose BMW Club. These can also count toward a lapping card.

Below is a schedule of driving schools for the 2008 season, along with detailed information about how to register. Other schools may be added throughout the year, so check back often for updated schedules.

High Performance Driving School #2 - June 28th, 2008

Due to the overwhelming demand a second school has been approved for the opportunity for those who want to start learning some of the techniques and track safety to qualify for a lapping card or SoloSprint license for the 2008 season.

For those not interested in obtaining their ARMS Race license a High Performance Driving School will take place at AMP on June 28th, 2008, entry fee is $150.00 which includes the lapping card and solosprint license. The class room part of this school will likely take place in the evening of June 27th with the one-day track session on the 28th to provide students with the basics of track safety, advanced driving techniques and direct instructor feedback.

A safe street vehicle is all thats required for this school. Vehicles will be inspected for suitability prior to on-track sessions.

Completion of this course qualifies participants for an ARMS Lapping and SoloSprint license allowing you access to the many lapping and solo competition sessions at Atlantic Motorsport Park throughout the year. The cost of this license is included in your school entry.

Registration and Payment

To register for either course, email your name, address and phone number to race@ascc.ca and specify your course of interest. A $50.00 deposit is required to reserve your entry. A cheque payable to ASCC can be mailed to ASCC, Box 31120, Halifax NS, B3K 5Y1 ATT Debbie Miller. Deposits or full payments can also be made via PayPal topaypal@ascc.ca a minimum of TWO WEEKS prior to the event (June 28th) Deposits or payments after those dates may not guarantee a position!

Refunds will be issued up to 2 weeks before the event.

Participation in any ARMS School requires membership in an ARMS-sanctioned club. Please make arrangements in advance to secure your memberships.

High Performance Driving School - May 19th, 2008 (FULL)

Victoria Day has traditionally been used as a Tune and Test day for the racers before the first race of the season but this year it is being expanded to provide an opportunity for those who want to start learning some of the techniques and track safety to qualify for a lapping card or SoloSprint license for the 2008 season.

For those not interested in obtaining their ARMS Race license a High Performance Driving School will take place at AMP on May 19, 2008, entry fee is $150.00 which includes the lapping card and solosprint license. This one-day course will provide students with the basics of track safety, advanced driving techniques and direct instructor feedback.

ASCC Race School - May 23-24th, 2008

The regular Race School, which is set for May 23/24th, 2008 is available only to those who intend to race this year. The cost is $200.00 and will consist of a mandatory classroom session Friday evening at Kartbahn Indoor Go-Karting and all day at the track on Saturday. A school race will take place Sunday during the regular ARMS race schedule. This race is included in the cost of the school. Full safety equipment and a completed medical is required for this course. The instructors will teach you theory and safety and personal on-track instruction in your car on a one to one basis. A safe street vehicle can be used for the Saturday track sessions however a full race-prepared vehicle is required for the Sunday school race.
