Matt Lynch sweeps TRAC Tour Round #1 Road-Racing Weekend at Atlantic Motorsport Park
SHUBENACADIE, NS – Matt Lynch of Scotsburn, Nova Scotia enjoyed a sweep of victories at the TRAC (The Road-Racers of Atlantic Canada) Tour Round #1 races at Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie this weekend, taking the chequered flag in all four sedan races in his #50 1988 Honda CRX Si, and winning his GT2 class. Matt is the reigning 2007 GT2 champion in the Grand Touring, IT and Atlantic Challenge Enduro series’, winning the championships in his rookie year.
The day started with an exciting school race, with nine rookies who had taken the ASCC Race Driving School the day before. Ultimately, Brad Sellars of Halifax took the win in the #64 1991 VW Golf, followed by Josh Boudreau of Moncton in the #72 1972 Datsun 510, and Vlad Miladinovic of Fredericton in the #16 1991 VW Golf.
The battle for open wheel Formula Libre wins was between Chris Wilcox of Fredericton in his 1982 Crossle 50F, Lucas Strackerjan of Halifax in his 2005 Formula BMW and Bill Anwyll of Halifax in his 1985 Reynard, each taking one win.
The feature 1-hour Atlantic Challenge Enduro Race was filled with excitement and heartbreak when a red flag was flown, stopping the race. An incident found Rick MacPherson in the #61 1991 VW Golf escaping unharmed from his overturned race car, after rolling multiple times, while Brian Bent in the #14 Acura Integra also sustained some damage from the same incident. Bob Prosser in the #5 VW Scirocco was given a penalty for not serving the complete required 5 minute pit stop.
